RIM around Locate Service at DevCon event yesterday. RIM plans to use it so developers can quickly find out your location based on cell towers and GPS. So, you no longer have to put 3 different app to find your location, now that API in OS 5.0 can be used to determine your location. This further save power RIM battery. The great again using crowd sourced data to map cell towers and provide a location. They have developed Loopt and explain how they implement this feature into Loopt. Locate Service will bring major changes in many aspects. For example, apps that could monitor your location at any time now have instant access to that info and can be used to share this info. You can access your location from Google search. Even developers now do not have to develop or pay a Cell Tower triangulation solution. Hopefully the developers can take advantage of this well.
